The fake article used.
This hoax is similar to the Luigi in Super Mario 64 hoax, but has to do with Waluigi. When the release of Super Mario 64 DS came out, Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi were now playable characters. But there was no sign of Waluigi. Some people say Waluigi was meant to be the character behind the white door in the character selection room.
Purple Prizes[]
During the release of Super Mario 64 DS, a photo from an obscure gaming magazine came up with an article titled "Purple Prizes". The article was about Waluigi being an unlockable character in the game, the way to obtain him was by finding every star in the game to unlock the white door in the game. The article then talked about Waluigi's spring ability to jump high into the air and picking up the Power Flower will make Waluigi extra fast. Later on, the creator of the article said that Waluigi was never in the game and that the magazine itself never even existed.
